Here’s a chance for SADA students to have their art hung in the new LU visitor’s center!

September 12, 2012

Attention all photo and SADA students…Here’s a great opportunity to have your photography hung on public display for hundreds of visitors to see on a daily basis! The LU visitor’s center is desiring to display student artwork from now until just before graduation next year, as a way to decorate some interior space in the new visitor center. You must act fast though, as the deadline is 9/21. Any of my current LU photo students who enter a photograph will receive extra class credit for their participation. See the guidelines below for specific details:

1. Students can enter as many pieces as they wish.  8-12 pieces total from all entries will be chosen to put on display.
2. Each chosen piece will be matted and framed by the HWC and will have a museum quality Description Tag that includes the student’s name, name of the piece, student’s home town, year of graduation.
3. The art will be hung in the HWC  from Homecoming Weekend until two weeks before Commencement 2013.
4. At this time, 8-12 new pieces of art will be chosen to hang in the HWC Visitor’s Center in time for Commencement 2013. This art will be on display through the summer until Homecoming of the next semester.
5. The art being replaced will be returned to the student artist along with the Description Tag that was made for the piece. Frames will be re-used.
6. The frames will be a basic black, with simple lines and the art will be matted in white.
Art pieces
1. Will be 16″ x 20″ in size….horizontal or vertical
2. Will represent anything that is a scene or landscape of Virginia. Still life art will also be acceptable.
3. Can be done in any medium as long as it will fit behind the glass of the frame (Watercolor, oil, paper collage, chalk, pen and ink, pencil, photography, etc.)
4. Can be any style….modern, classical, etc.
Please note that the wall color in the Hancock Welcome Center is a pale, buttery yellow. If you choose to  participate, you may want to walk through the Visitor’s Center to get a feel for the space.

Please bring work to the SADA offices by September 21st, 4pm.
